Crescent Counselling Collective

Meet Eleonora

We chose the name “Crescent Counselling” because it reminds us of the
crescent moon that is in a stage of growth and change.

The crescent moon is a good metaphor for the phases of light and dark that we each go through in our lives. We seek to support you in navigating these phases and deeply believe in each person’s capacity for growth, healing, and change.

‘Crescent’ also reflects our commitment to community well-being and social justice. Much like the moon is one part of an intricate and vast system, we see our clients and ourselves as part of interconnected systems (e.g., our families, culture, institutions) that can be sources of both distress and well-being. We therefore bring a relational and anti-oppressive approach to our work so as to recognize and honour the multiple and complex aspects of identity and experience. We are committed to ongoing learning and un-learning of the ways in which our work as counsellors and the mental health field more broadly are implicated in systems of oppression, community care, and liberatory practices. We offer gender and LGBTQ2S+ affirming care and are committed to cultural responsiveness and humility in our practice.

Each of us goes through difficult times in our lives and you deserve support, compassion, and understanding.

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#18902) who is passionate about supporting individuals and relationships to heal, grow, and thrive. I am also a member of the queer community, a parent, and fellow human feeling and navigating through this challenging world. All of this shapes my commitment to offer a confidential, non-judgmental, and collaborative space for you and the important people in your life to navigate life’s difficulties, cope with distress, and create well-being and change in ways that are meaningful for you. My work is grounded in a feminist and anti-oppressive framework, meaning I recognize the complex social, cultural, and political worlds we live in and that impact our everyday experiences, including our mental health.

As a counsellor, I work to meet you where you are at. This means seeing you in your struggles and your strengths and in collaboratively ensuring that our work together is relevant and meaningful for you. My approach therefore draws on a number of therapeutic modalities, including narrative, emotion-focused, attachment-based, and somatic-based therapies. I offer queer and trans positive counselling, non-monogamous/poly-affirming counselling, and hormone readiness assessments for gender-affirming care.

I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and a PhD in Philosophy of Education from Simon Fraser University. Additionally, I have specialized training and certifications in the following areas:

  • Introduction to Perinatal Mental Health (The Perinatal Collective)
  • Gender Affirming Hormone Care Planning and Recommendation Training (with J. Matsui De Roo, RCC-ACS)
  • Sex and Trauma: Helping Clients Move Beyond Trauma & Reclaim Their Sexuality (American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists)
  • Supporting Families Going Through the MAiD Process (BC Association of Clinical Counsellors with Dr. Stephanie Green)
  • Narrative Therapy Level 1 (Vancouver School of Narrative Therapy)
  • Emotion-Focused Therapy for Individuals Level 1 (Vancouver Couple & Family Institute)
  • Emotion-Focused Therapy for Couples Level 1 (Vancouver Couple & Family Institute)
  • Introduction to Play Therapy
  • Telepsychology Best Practices 101 (American Psychological Association)
  • San’yas Indigenous Cultural Safety Certificate

In addition to counselling, I am an instructor at CityU in the Counselling program and facilitate therapy and support groups at various community agencies. Outside of the therapy room, you’ll find me hiking, gardening, reading, and working to perfect a home-brewed espresso.
