We chose the name “Crescent Counselling” because it reminds us of the
crescent moon that is in a stage of growth and change.
The crescent moon is a good metaphor for the phases of light and dark that we each go through in our lives. We seek to support you in navigating these phases and deeply believe in each person’s capacity for growth, healing, and change.
‘Crescent’ also reflects our commitment to community well-being and social justice. Much like the moon is one part of an intricate and vast system, we see our clients and ourselves as part of interconnected systems (e.g., our families, culture, institutions) that can be sources of both distress and well-being. We therefore bring a relational and anti-oppressive approach to our work so as to recognize and honour the multiple and complex aspects of identity and experience. We are committed to ongoing learning and un-learning of the ways in which our work as counsellors and the mental health field more broadly are implicated in systems of oppression, community care, and liberatory practices. We offer gender and LGBTQ2S+ affirming care and are committed to cultural responsiveness and humility in our practice.

Anxiety, fear, and relationship conflict can impact all of us at different times in our lives. I am a Registered Social Worker (#14172) working alongside work with individuals, relationships, and families to help you rediscover your hope, optimism, and joy amidst difficulty and challenge.
My approach is centered on creating a collaborative and safe space to support you in finding paths to wellness. I approach this by exploring each individual’s and family’s strengths, and providing supportive guidance to help you draw on these strengths to create change for yourself. I also seek to support you in learning and trying new skills to find effective and meaningful solutions to the challenges you are facing.
My counselling approach is integrative in that I draw on numerous theories to best serve my clients and their needs. I have been trained in and draw from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Family Based Therapy.
I hold a Master’s degree in Social Work from University of British Columbia and completed clinical training placements at BC Children’s Hospital in the Mood and Anxiety Clinic, OCD Clinic, and the Family Therapy program. I also hold a Master’s degree in Conflict Studies and Human Rights from Utrecht University, The Netherlands and have both training and community practice in restorative justice work. I draw on these experiences to bring a broad and intersectional lens to my counselling work that recognizes the complexity, nuances, and uniqueness of each person’s lived experience.
In addition, I work with the Provincial Specialized Eating Disorders program for Children and Adolescents at BC Children’s Hospital. Outside the therapy room, you’ll find me hiking and playing on the monkey bars with my kids.
Finding compassion for ourselves and creating change can be a daunting process, and reaching out to a counsellor can often feel like the hardest step. I look forward to hearing from you and taking the next steps alongside you.
